In teh Beginning

“In the beginning was the Word,”
Logos, spoken, created, heard.
“It is good”, it was blessed,
Life created at God’s behest.

Light and Dark, day and night,
Fish at sea, birds in flight.
Man from tree the fruit did eat,
All through Logos made complete.

“In the beginning was the Word,”
Giv’n to Moses, on tablets stored.
Good and perfect will of God,
Through the desert, Israel trod.

Born of virgin, born on earth.
Stored in manger, lowly birth.
Lamb of God, Son of man,
“Before Abraham… I AM!”

“In the beginning was the Word,”
Softly spoken but loudly heard.
Word of truth, Word of grace,
Love perfected, sin effaced.

Came to do his Father’s will,
He did it then and does it still.
Crucified for all our sakes,
Sent the Spirit in his wake.
